Biography
Cristina Biaggi, Ph.D.
To her work as an artist, sculptor, writer and lecturer on the Great Goddess, Dr. Cristina Biaggi brings a strong background in the classics, art and art history, archaeology, literature, and languages acquired at Vassar College, Harvard University, the University of Mexico City, the University of Utah, and New York University. She has taught Art History, Sculpture, Mythology and Drawing and is world-renowned for her contribution to the field of Goddess-centered art and scholarly studies.
In talking about her recent works, Dr. Biaggi says, “As an artist, I enjoy transitioning from realistic work to abstract work. Creating my bronzes requires my total immersion in contemplating and rendering the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of my subjects—a process where I must concentrate on capturing the minute details of a face and the soul beyond it."
Dr. Biaggi contrasts collage making to the structured demands of bronze work. “I find it important to have a freeing environment when I make collages, where I am instinctually tearing up pieces of paper and composing them in an intuitive creation that expresses I know-not-what about my state of mind at the time. Moving between careful, meticulous observation and spontaneous, slightly frenzied left-brain creation is an experience I find liberating and entirely fulfilling.
